This historic well was patronised by Burns (in 1787) and Scott and was one of the earliest spas developed in Scotland. The story of the health giving springs and the legends associated with them is told through documents, photographs and objects. The spa, built in 1827, was very popular with Victorians who visited it for its curative waters.
