In preparation for the move, the archives remain open at their present location on Mondays and Thursdays only, 9am-5pm, by appointment. The service will close between 23 December and March 23rd 2007.
The new Heritage Hub building is part of a £10 million pound project, 'The Heart of Hawick', aimed at regenerating Hawick and the wider Scottish Borders. The project is supported by funding from the European Union and the Heritage Lottery Fund.
Along with the state of the art archive facility, the 'Heart' campus will include a new city style cafe, shop, cinema, and Visit Scotland Borders office at the adjacent Tower Mill building, and Registrar facilities and museum at the nearby Drumlanrig's Tower. Please check our website at http://www.scotborders.gov.uk/council/specialinterest/heartofhawick/index.html for up to date information about the project's progress, and for opening times for the various new facilities.
