Located in an award-winning building, the Scottish Poetry Library is the national poetry resource, offering free lending and reference facilities. Focused on modern Scottish poetry, the SPL also offers a wide range of world poetry and an excellent junior section.
In 2005, to celebrate the Quincentenary of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh, the SPL published ‘The Hand That Sees’. It commissioned twenty-one Scottish poets (some working within the medical profession) to write poems inspired by the College’s collections and work.
This thought-provoking, life-enhancing illustrated anthology and accompanying CD, edited by Stewart Conn, is available from the Scottish Poetry Library and the RCSE.
